I believe the chapter was quite helpful and informative when it comes to writing in general. It makes me reflect on past research papers and what I could have done differently. One of the key points I like about the chapter, is the amount of discovering that goes into, not only the topic, but first finding out research around potential topics. Having multiple interest topics is fine, but narrowing down to the one key one is very hard, but necessary. I think that is hard for me to do because I would just like to pick one thing and run with it, when really, I should stick to the steps that the chapter gave because it is a formulaic process that has a successful result, not to say that I couldn’t just choose something and run with it, but the formula makes more sense. I thought the chapter made a good point when it talked about asking good questions for the topic, to delve deeper into what you are proposing for the research. I think these ideas and formulas will help me decide and to help me write and prepare my essay. I have a few things that I must narrow it down from, but now I am able to with the help of the chapter.
