“Shitty First Drafts” really made me think about how people do not see what one must go through to achieve something that is difficult. The most important thing is the result, but what leads up to that result tells the story that the end does not do justice for. You don’t usually see someone that can do an amazing project or complete an extraordinary task without having to go through a trial of some kind. I think the reflection that we must do to progress builds our character and makes us a better person, because if everything came easy to everyone, we would have no room for improvement and live a life of dullness. If you look at any inventor, you can see they failed, but it’s what they did after. To invent something that has lasting affects you must continue to revise it, which in turn continues to revise yourself. So, you don’t really need to pay attention to what someone must go through, but it may help you not only grow as a person, but grow to become more whole yourself. Reflection of oneself happens every day, it’s almost unavoidable, but you can only grow as a person if you believe that there is revision in the first place.
